uploading Early and Rare Josef Frank lamp
Austria
c. 1928
Early Josef Frank lamp from his Austrian period, produced for his firm Haus & Garten, c. 1928. The double-curve or sine-curve element became idiomatic
for Frank's work in Sweden for Svensk Tenn, but was an interesting and original
idea for articulating and ornamenting lighting in the 1920's--at least if you subsctibe to the wave theory of light. This lamp has an old repaint over the
original base metal, and features a conical metal shade, unlike the later Svensk Tenn lamps, which have pleated or print fabric shades. A rare and wonderful design.

$8,500
