Jan De Swart Biomorphic Wooden Sculpture USA c. 1948 Fascinating wooden sculpture of interlocking organic forms, cut by hand with a bandsaw and fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. The whole takes on an architectural aspect, like a model for a structure of intersecting biomorphic volumes. De Swart was a Dutch-born California artist, designer, and inventor, whose methods and materials were at root organic, as were his forms, which were often biological in both the biomorphic and molecular senses.
